Flooding is a natural phenomenon. Rain and melting snow can cause rivers, streams, and creeks to overflow their banks on to adjacent land. This is especially true in the spring in the mountain areas of Utah when snow melt is at its peak.

Flash floods occur when a large amount of rain falls in a short period of time especially in the desert.

There are things you can do to prepare.

First, contact your local emergency management office, DES, or your insurance provider to find out if you live in a flood prone area.
